Semarang – The Doctoral Program in Marine Science (DIKL), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), held a Research Progress Seminar II as part of the dissertation evaluation process for doctoral students. The seminar was presented by Iis Widya Harmoko, a doctoral candidate, who delivered an update on the progress of his dissertation research before the supervisory committee and examiners on January 30, 2026.

The dissertation is entitled “Characteristics of Climate Change in the Northern Coast (Pantura) of Central Java in Terms of Changes in Air Temperature, Rainfall, and Sea Surface Temperature.” This research examines climate change dynamics in the northern coastal region of Central Java through the analysis of oceanographic and atmospheric parameters that play crucial roles in coastal environmental systems.

During the seminar, Iis Widya Harmoko presented significant research progress, including advancements in data processing, scientific analysis, and research outputs. As of the Research Progress Seminar II stage, the dissertation has successfully resulted in three scientific publications, namely in:

  1. Indonesian Journal of Applied Physics

  2. The 3rd International Conference on Disaster Management and Climate Change (ICoDMC) 2025

  3. Environment and Natural Resources Journal (EnNRJ)

These achievements reflect the academic quality and relevance of the research, contributing to scientific understanding of climate change impacts in coastal regions, particularly along the northern coast of Central Java, which is highly vulnerable to climate variability and environmental change.

This dissertation research is supervised by:
Promotor: Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Zainuri, DEA
Co-Promotor I: Prof. Dr. Sc. Anindya Wirasatriya, S.T., M.Si., M.Sc.
Co-Promotor II: Dr. Supari, S.Si., M.Sc.

The supervisory team expressed appreciation for the research progress and encouraged further refinement of the analysis toward the final dissertation stage and additional publications in reputable international journals. This progress seminar plays an essential role in ensuring that doctoral research proceeds according to plan and generates impactful scientific contributions.

Through these publication achievements, the Doctoral Program in Marine Science FPIK UNDIP reaffirms its commitment to encouraging doctoral students to produce high-quality research that addresses global issues, particularly climate change and coastal environmental dynamics.
